The Ormskirk and Southport Groups are proud to announce that two of their own are to receive promotion in Grand Lodge. Deputy Provincial Grand Master Philip Gunning PSGD is to receive promotion in Grand Lodge to Past Grand Sword Bearer (PGSwdB).
In 2005 Philip was appointed as the vice chairman of the Ormskirk and District Group and in 2010 he was appointed group chairman. He has held group office in one form of another for 29 years.
He received his first appointment in Provincial Grand Lodge in 1991 as an acting Provincial Grand Steward. In 1995 he was promoted to Past Provincial Junior Grand Warden. Promotion to grand rank followed in 2002 when he was appointed PAGDC. Philip was appointed Assistant Provincial Grand Master responsible for the Ormskirk and District and Southport Groups in 2011 and in 2012 he was promoted to the rank of Past Senior Grand Deacon. Philip was invested as Deputy Provincial Grand Master at the meeting of Provincial Grand Lodge held in the Winter Garden in Blackpool in 2015.
Assistant Provincial Grand Master Robert Wright PAGDC who is responsible for the Ormskirk and District and Southport Groups is to receive promotion in Grand Lodge to the acting rank of Senior Grand Deacon (SGD).
Robert has been further honoured in the Royal Arch with his first appointment in Supreme Grand Chapter as Past Grand Standard Bearer (PGStdB).
In 2001 Robert received his first appointment in Provincial Grand Lodge as Provincial Assistant Grand Director of Ceremonies. In 2005 he was promoted to PPrDGSuptWks and in 2009 he received further promotion to Provincial Deputy Grand Director of Ceremonies. After serving as PrDGDC for three years he was promoted to Past Provincial Junior Grand Warden. Promotion to grand rank followed in 2013 when he was appointed PAGDC. Robert was invested as Assistant Provincial Grand Master in 2015.
Robert is a member of Provincial Grand Stewards’ Chapter of West Lancashire No 8516 and Scarisbrick Chapter No 2295. He was appointed PrGStwd in 2004 and promoted to PPrGSwdB in 2008 with appointment to PrDGDC in 2012. When Robert completed three years as PrDGDC he received promotion to PPrGSN.
