Afternoon tea at Southport Masonic Hall

On a glorious summer afternoon, the ladies of the Southport Group Wives and Widows Luncheon Club gathered at the Masonic Hall Duke Street, for their annual afternoon tea.

The club chairman, June Thompson, opened the occasion stating that she was delighted yet again to welcome so many members and their guests to the afternoon tea. June then thanked the hall manageress Julie McGee and her team for their continued support.

The dining room looked resplendent bathed in sunshine. The ladies were entertained by local pianist Sam Jones whilst enjoying an assortment of sandwiches, cakes and scones. Tea, coffee and the occasional glass of wine also accompanied the afternoon tea.
At the conclusion of the event, past chairman Audrey Draper thanked the chairman and the committee for organising the afternoon tea and for their work throughout the season.

The ladies meet every second Wednesday, from October to May. New members are always welcome. Any Southport Group wives and widows interested in joining the luncheon club can contact the secretary Debbie Matthews.
