Within Freemasonry, we have a lot of members who are willing to go the extra mile in the cause of charity. In the case of Richard Jenkinson, WM of Fermor Lodge No 1313, it was an extra 100 miles!
Despite carrying a nagging injury to a knee for a number of months, Richard decided to undertake this gruelling challenge for the second year running.
Starting at Wythenshawe Park, heading toward South Manchester, the event took him through Knutsford, Delamere Forest, Northwich, Nantwich, Middlewich and back to Wythenshawe Park to complete the 100 miles challenge successfully.
Taking part were 1,000s of riders, which included a wide cross-section of abilities from professional and semi-professional team and club riders to complete amateurs, all striving to do their bit, primarily, for cancer charities or maybe in memory of, or motivated by, a current sufferer or someone close to each rider affected by this debilitating illness.
Richard was justly proud to personally realise £520, which he has passed to Fermor Lodge to be disbursed to the charities and he further sends his personal thanks to all those who contributed to this excellent total.
