You’re never too old

An excellent turnout of 40 brethren and visitors, bore witness to a marvellous first degree ceremony, that saw Ainsdale Samaritan Lodge No 4342 welcome Joe Pender as their newest initiate into the lodge.

At the tender age of 84 years, Joe has started his Masonic journey, showing how diverse Freemasonry really is.

Presided over by WM Richard Gillett and ably assisted by junior deacon Tom Gudgin, Joe was led around the lodge in an almost faultless ceremony. It was only the fact that Joe had forgotten his hearing aid that created any kind of difficulty for the officers involved, but this proved to be a minor inconvenience.

As is usual, an excellent DC equals an excellent lodge and Ainsdale Samaritan is no exception, as Jim Stanley kept his experienced eye on proceedings, thus making sure the assembled brethren had a memorable evening.

Once the ceremony had finished and the usual lodge business concluded, the brethren retired to the festive board, where the visitors were made, not only welcome, but also part of the lodge.
